Mike Tierney is a Grammy award-winning audio engineer and producer, based in Brooklyn. He has worked with a wide range of groups and genres, pulling from a diverse taste and experience to bring a unique musicality to each project. Regardless of whether he is producing or engineering, his goal is to highlight the emotions that the song is trying to convey with a concise aesthetic.

Mike has a background as a composer, arranger, and performer, which helps him to work naturally with musicians to help create an environment in which everyone feels comfortable and creative, while his technical expertise helps to translate their aesthetic into a coherent recording. This bridging has helped Mike in developing a presence in New York’s music scenes, having worked with artists such as Steve Reich; Medeski, Martin, & Wood; Judy Collins; Christopher Cerrone; Julia Wolfe; Stephen Stills; Pharaoh Sanders; and Alarm Will Sound.

In 2026, Mike was awarded the Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Classical for the album Cerrone: Don’t Look Down by Sandbox Percussion. His work has garnered seven Grammy nominations to date.

Mike currently works from his studio Fieldnotes Studio, and in studios throughout New York in mixing, recording, production, and mastering.
